Malabar Spinach – planted May 2017. Seedling purchased from a local herb festival. Malabar is not a true spinach, but a heat-loving Asian vine. It’s leaves are edible and are often used in salads and stir-fries. This plant will share a trellis with a Marketmore Cucumber planted across from it in the same raised bed.
Instead of extending tendrils out to reach the trellis, the entire plant itself grows toward and wraps around the trellis. Kind cool, huh?
